EIL

Environmental Impairment Liability

Environmental impairment liability (EIL) provides protection against pollution activities and covers the cost of restoring damage relating to environmental and pollution accidents to property, land, sea, air or water.

EIL insurance covers accidental pollution that occurs from standard operations. It also covers any other contamination resulting in environmental damage. ELI policies protect against pollution exposures at your premises, at adjacent third-party premises or at other locations where you conduct business activities.

First party and premises cover

We can offer a wide range of coverages depending on the requirement, focus of the business, and its activities. They are shown below:

  • First and third party remediation cover. Triggered by a claim or first party discovery
  • Third party bodily Injury and property damage – including first party restoration costs
  • Environmental resource damage expenses – including non-pollution events and prevention costs
  • Emergency response expenses
  • Blanket coverage for transportation and waste disposal activities (activity dependent)
  • Business interruption coverage (activity dependent)
  • Asbestos coverage including 3rd Party BI/PD, remediation expenses
  • Comprehensive bodily Injury coverage
  • Legal defense costs

Contractors Environmental Impairment Liability: 3rd Party

There are many different scenarios as to why someone might need to have contractors pollution / 3rd party pollution cover. They might be:

  • Environmental damage caused by dust, asbestos, mold, lead to the surrounding air, land or water.
  • A farm contractor hired to spread fertilizers on fields which might cause damage to the wrong crops or surrounding water
  • A construction contractor hired to build a bridge across a river with heavy machinery and hazardous substances
  • A mining contractor hired to assist in a project for drilling
  • A waste disposal organization hired to collect waste and move it to another location

We can offer a wide range of coverage depending on the requirement, focus of the business and its activities. They are shown below:

  • Third party bodily injury, property damage or clean-up of environmental damage arising from a pollution incident
  • Statutory clean-up costs under the environmental liability directive
  • Pollution incidents from transportation whether operated by the contractor or on their behalf
  • Blanket time-element site pollution coverage for owned and operated facilities
  • Blanket transportation including coverage for bodily injury, property damage, clean-up costs and statutory clean-up costs
  • Blanket covered operations
  • Legal defense costs outside the limits and not subject to the deductible
  • Emergency response expenses without a sublimit – no legal liability required
  • Blanket additional Insureds where required by written contract
  • Cover of non-owned disposal sites (activity dependent)
