Environmental Impairment Liability
Environmental impairment liability (EIL) provides protection against pollution activities and covers the cost of restoring damage relating to environmental and pollution accidents to property, land, sea, air or water.
EIL insurance covers accidental pollution that occurs from standard operations. It also covers any other contamination resulting in environmental damage. ELI policies protect against pollution exposures at your premises, at adjacent third-party premises or at other locations where you conduct business activities.

Contractors Environmental Impairment Liability: 3rd Party
There are many different scenarios as to why someone might need to have contractors pollution / 3rd party pollution cover. They might be:
- Environmental damage caused by dust, asbestos, mold, lead to the surrounding air, land or water.
- A farm contractor hired to spread fertilizers on fields which might cause damage to the wrong crops or surrounding water
- A construction contractor hired to build a bridge across a river with heavy machinery and hazardous substances
- A mining contractor hired to assist in a project for drilling
- A waste disposal organization hired to collect waste and move it to another location

- Statutory clean-up costs under the environmental liability directive
